Wish Granting
Since its founding in 1980 in Phoenix, Arizona, the Make-A-Wish Foundation has
granted a wish to every qualified child referred to us. That amounts to more than
127,000 wishes to children around the world!
These wishes are granted through the generosity of private donors and more than
25,000 volunteers worldwide.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation becomes aware of a child's wish through wish referrals,
which are accepted from parents and guardians or medical professionals, such as
doctors, nurses, social workers, and child-life specialists.
Most wishes fall under one of four categories: "I want to have" "I want to go"
"I want to be" or "I want to meet"
